Short Story: short stories impacting lives

Candles
The Bible uses a lot of parables in teaching us lessons, These were short stories used to teach us truths in the simplest way. Many today find some of these stories difficult to grasp. However it should be noted that the initial intention of parables was to simplify the message, and reveal the truth about the mystery of God. While at the same time hide the precious truth from those whose only intentions were to destroy or hide the truth from those who are seeking.

Gifts: One Of The Most Ignored Gifts

Click to enlarge image -  the tongue
Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without the tongue? The tongue is one of the smallest members of the body, yet it is one of the most indispensable. The tongue is a movable organ in the floor of the mouth in humans and most vertebrates, functioning in eating, tasting, and, in humans, in speaking. Without the tongue mastication of food would not be possible.  It is the primary organ of taste and serves as a natural means of cleaning ones teeth.

Many infections are usually found on or under the tongue. It is a good indicator of good health. Because of the thousands of taste buds in our mouth, and thousands on our tongue we are able to determine whether our food is salt and sweet, sour or bitter.  Of all the senses taste is the weakest of the five senses.

We have all been given the gift of speech with the exception of a few. How wonderful it would be if we all could pattern Our Lord in our speech.  Unfortunately among the many gifts that we have received, among these gifts the talent of speech is ranked among one of the highest gift and one of the most misused gifts. Only through the help of Christ will we be able to bridle the tongue. James 3:13 “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.” Here James state that we are lying against the truth when we claim to believe the truth yet we surmise evil, we are unforgiving, impatient claiming to believe the truth while our words and our deportment represent not Christ but satan.

As we see and experience the misuse of this precious gift may we strive to improve on it. May we recognize  we have a resposibilty to allow the Lord to control our total being so that we can bless others through our words.

“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind. But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:5-8

If we surrender our life to Christ He is able to help us, so today why not trust God to help you to wisely use this gift to His honour and glory.

Who is God

Our duty to worship God stems from the fact that he is the creator, making all other beings indebted to him through his creative power. All the gods of the nations are idols; but the Lord made the heaven and the earth. Psalm 96:5. To whom then will you liken God or to whom shall he be equal?Isaiah 40:25-26; 45:18.

IS IT TOO LATE TO CHANGE?

A great religious awakening is prophesied in the word of God about the soon coming of Jesus. Over in Revelation Chapter 14:6,7. we read "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth and to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. saying, with a loud voice, Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of his judgement is come; and worship him that made heaven and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

PARABLE OF THE FIG-TREE/End Times

Matthew 24 Verses 32,33. "Now learn a parable of the fig-tree; when his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh. So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors."

The parable of the fig-tree is one the most forcible figure that our Lord uses to illustrate this subject. When the trees of the field begin to put forth their leaves, and the tender grass springs up, and the ground is being covered with its green, velvet carpet, we know that summer is nigh. It is a certainty with us that summer is coming when we see these signs in nature. We know that summer is nigh. "So likewise,"  with the same certainty, we may know that Christ's coming is at the doors when the signs in the sun, moon, and stars, are fulfilled. Here, our Lord has stated the object of these signs, which is, that we may know when his coming is at the doors.

The Judgement

Scales and books

The day of the judgement of the Lord will be an awful day for those who have rejected the love of Christ, however all those who have accepted the death of His Son and accepted His righteousness by faith shall be able to stand in the judgement.

"And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel, saying rise and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. Rev 11:1
And He that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. Rev.21:15.

I lifted up my eyes again, and looked and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand. Then said I, whither goest thou?  And he said unto me, to measure Jerusalem, to see what the breadth thereof is.  Zechariah 2:1-2.

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God: and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it: and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Rev.20:12-13

For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 1Peter 4:17

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fail: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2Peter 1:10-11."

The great judgement is taking place. The Lord says measure the temple and worshipers. So remember when you are walking the streets or going about your business, God is measuring you, when you are attending to your household chores, when you engage in conversation. Remember that your words and actions are being recorded in the books of heaven.

Here the work of judgement is going on, as Christ measures the temple and the worshipers to see who will be able to stand in these last days. Those who are faithful to him, those who heed his warning and repent of their sins will have a place in the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When we are doing our work let us remember there is One that is watching the spirit in which we are doing it. therefoe our attitude should be right, for the Scripture says whatsoever our hands find to do we should do it well.

Let us leave behind all that is not necessary, all gossiping, or unprofitable things that will hinder us and prevent us from obtaining the kingdom. Let us present ourselves as servants of the living God.

The Stony Places

"He that receiveth the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while; for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended."  Matt 13:20

“The seed sown upon stony ground finds little depth of soil. The plant springs up quickly, but root cannot penetrate the rock to find nutriment to sustain its growth, and it soon perishes. Many who make a profession of religion are stony-ground hearers.

The bible: A Manual

Open Bible
The Bible is the inspired word of God. "The Book of Genesis records the Hebrew Patriarchs, to whom the promise was given of a coming deliverer. It is a book of many authors and subjects. Touching both historical facts as well as a series of biographies. The preface to the Bible (Gen. 1 - 3) contains a brief account of the creation of the universe by God, and of man's high position, as ruler of every living thing on earth. It tells of the covenant made with Adam, by a loving God, his honour and his fall. The punishment that was his, disconnected from his creator because of his fall; and the prospect of deliverance from his sin was given to him.
